Cloves. I love them. I refer to myself as a “spice girl”. Ok, I’m 55, so maybe “girl” is inappropriate, but “spice woman” just doesn’t have the same feel. The point is that I love clove, vanilla, and cinnamon – I wear vanilla; I cook with those spices – and throw in some rum or grand marnier depending on the recipe. I have sucked the life out of clove cigarettes – have actually destroyed them.

In 2005 I read about Sen. Kennedy’s balls-out vendetta against clove cigarettes. And read further – are cloves WORSE than regular cigarettes? Is the second-hand smoke MORE harmful? My God, why the noise about CLOVE CIGARETTES?

Phillip Morris. LOL. I read something from a tobacco store owner that was published in response to the upcoming fiasco. He said that people don’t quit smoking – they’ll just switch.

UGGGHH. And that’s the truly stupid part. Those of us who smoke cloves will NOT smoke anything else. We will just become those born again non-smokers who will rally to shut down Phillip Morris in its entirety. Gee, maybe we’ll walk around and fake coughing when around “normal” smokers. Oh boy, I can hardly wait.

Save the children. Really good idea. So when do we start with the REAL stuff to save the children? Educate the children. Feed the children. Clothe the children. HEALTH CARE. hmmmm. there’s an idea – let the children go to a doctor, without their parents having to mortgage their home.

Please tell me what is LEGAL about this law. Nothing. Mr. Obama. I am ashamed of you. I don’t care what the end result is in your mind – the MEANS are what this country is about – or used to be about. ummm. Can we vote about this? Oh yeah. We don’t get to vote about much of anything, do we? And then there’s always a more “sophisticated” body of law to override our vote anyway – in case we’re too stupid to understand.

Or are the “stupid” just too far from the pocket that feeds that “sophisticated” body. Golly gee, I wish I understood how all this law stuff works. After all, I’m just a silly old attorney in a silly major international law firm.
