Toyota Apparently Has No Interest In Our Money
March 21st, 2010 by hrrf

So we decided on the 2011 Toyota Sienna. Check out this link for an idea of how it is to drive.

We opened up an equity line of credit with our credit union in order to buy the van. This gives us price negotiation flexibility, and the rate was actually lower than the car loan rates we had available to us. Plus, we can write off the interest!

On Wednesday I e-mailed a few dealers in the area to ask a few questions and let them know we were interested, thus opening up the negotiation process. I e-mailed three different internet sales reps at three different dealerships. I have received zero replies. I guess they don’t want to make the sale?

Talk to Jeff… the same thing happened to us and he was P!$$ed! . We actually got a call back 2 weeks later telling us they had a car for us…. after we had bought a Honda instead! Toyota might want to get some new internet sales man

Congrats on the almost purchase. I emailed Honda when I considered buying a CRV, they were very responsive. I wonder what gives.

Finally heard back from a guy today who had me on his automailing list. I’d get the weekly emails about their specials and such, but no response to my question. Gave him the firm price we’re looking for – guess we’ll see what happens now!

Get the Consumer Reports new car price report ($14 and well worth it). Tells you the wholesale cost of the car and how much each add-on you want costs the dealer so you can just come up with a price, say I’ll pay that take it or leave it and not worry about paying too much.

I’m essentially doing the same thing. USAA and Costco have “car buying services” that give iron-clad prices under invoice. I’m just trying to talk them down an extra grand or so under invoice.

We’ll see – so far only one response, and that was that they will “get back to me” if they can honor that price.
